Good morning, Salford!

This week's edition is a little different. Before we get into what’s on this week, I’ve got something exciting to share. We hit 1,000 subscribers and I honestly can’t believe it 😭

One thousand of you, seriously 😭😭 I’m still in shock.

When I launched Salford Signal, I had one goal - to shine a light on everything that makes this city fun, exciting to live in and build a community that genuinely cares about Salford. Hitting 1,000 subscribers feels like proof that you care just as much as I do, and I am so grateful for every single one of you.

To celebrate, I am giving three Salford businesses the chance to be featured in Salford Signal. This is my way of giving back to the community that has supported me from day one. If you run a local business and want to get your name in front of over 1,000 Salford residents, this is your moment.

Fill out this form and I will be in touch.

❝

Now it’s time for me to push my luck 😭

Running Salford Signal on my own has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. But as we grow, I would appreciate a helping hand.

I’m looking for someone who is comfortable bringing Salford to life on camera and telling the stories that make this city so special. A Salford local who loves their city, is confident and wants to be part of something that is only just getting started.

This is a volunteer role that requires about 5 to 10 hours a month doing street interviews and being the face that our community gets to know and love.

If that sounds like you, please fill out this form. And if you know someone who might be interested, kindly forward this to them.

Now, Let's get into what we have for this week.

Featured in today’s signal:

  • Resilience Fund and support available for Salford residents

  • Restaurant of the week

  • Free food and cinema for kids

  • Exciting things to do this Weekend

Resilience Fund and support available for Salford residents

❝

If you or someone you know is going through a tough time financially, Salford's Crisis and Resilience Fund is now open for applications.

The fund is for residents who have been hit by a sudden financial shock - whether that is a loss of income, a domestic emergency, homelessness or any other urgent situation that has left things feeling unmanageable. You do not need to be on benefits to apply, and getting support will not affect any benefits you already receive.

Here is what the fund can help with:

  • Emergency essentials like food, fuel, clothing and basic household items

  • Short term financial assistance to help prevent things getting worse

  • Access to wider resilience services and support networks in Salford

If this sounds like something you or someone close to you needs, click here to apply.

Restaurant of the Week - Blacksticks

❝

Monton might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of a great night out, but Blacksticks might just change that. This modern European tapas bar sits right in the heart of the village and once you find it, you will wonder how you ever missed it.

The food is the kind you order, taste and immediately start planning your next visit around. The sharing plates are fresh, full of flavour and hit every single time. The chefs are doing something a little different here and it shows on the plate, and trust me, you'll want every single one.

A few favourites worth trying:

  • Chargrilled Chicken Thighs

  • Caprese Salad

  • Malaga Style Fried Fish

  • Vegetarian Nut Roast

They serve Vegan and vegetarian friendly food too, so everyone is catered for. If you have not been to Blacksticks yet, put it on the list for this weekend.

Free Cinema and Hot Dogs for kids

❝

If you have got little ones at home this summer and you are looking for something to keep them entertained without spending a fortune, Coal & Cotton has something for you.

Coal & Cotton in Boothstown is running a free kids cinema every Thursday and Friday afternoon throughout the summer holidays. And to make it better, kids can enjoy a free hot dog while they watch! All you need to do is book a table between 2pm and 3pm on their website to secure a spot at the 3pm showing.

One thing to note - if the film option does not show up when you search your date, that showing is fully booked. So get in early and secure your spot before it fills up.
