Spirit of Little Hulton Festival

❝

If you are looking for something to do this Saturday, the Spirit of Little Hulton Festival is back by the seaside, bringing a full day of music, food, art, sport and community fun to Peel Park.

Expect live music, fairground rides, cultural food stalls, kite making, karaoke, football, bike tracks, face painting, open DJ decks, and the list goes on. With local artists, schools, charities and community groups all coming together, the festival is a true celebration of the city and the people who make it special.

It is a full on community celebration and it is completely free to attend.

£100 million floating walkways are coming to Greater Manchester

❝

A £100 million plan to build 100 miles of floating walkways and nature routes across Greater Manchester is already in motion and it just got even bigger.

The project is called CyanLines and the idea is to connect canals, rivers and green spaces across the whole region into one continuous network for walking and cycling. Of the four routes originally announced, one follows the River Irwell straight into Salford, so we could see a major part of this developing right here in our city.

There’s already been some significant progress. A new route has been announced linking Piccadilly station with the Etihad Campus along the Ashton Canal, with better lighting, improved surfaces and rain gardens all planned. And a technical feasibility study has now been commissioned for a floating walkway on the Irwell which is exciting to hear about.

According to Greater Manchester Mayor Bev Craig - the goal of this development is not just about getting from A to B. It is about giving every single person in Greater Manchester proper access to nature, no matter where they live.

If this plan is followed through, it is going to be transformative for the city. So definitely one to keep an eye on over the next few years.

Restaurant of the Week - Noir Steak House

❝

Sometimes a restaurant does not need to shout about itself because the food does all the talking. Family run since 2014, Noir Steak House is still one of the most loved spots in Monton.

The recipes at this restaurant have been passed down through the family and cooked the same way every single time. That kind of consistency over ten years is what keeps people coming back.

Beyond the steaks that they're mainly known for, there is a bottomless brunch for lazy weekend mornings and a late night bar when you want to stretch the evening out.

A few items worth trying:

  • Roasted Aubergine goat cheese

  • Diane Steak

  • Garlic leaf steak

  • Spicy grilled meatballs

A proper neighbourhood restaurant that has stood the test of time. If you've not been, it's worth a go.

Every clothing item for £1

❝

Emmaus Salford Emporium in Swinton is running a £1 clothing sale from 10am to 3pm this Saturday and every single item you pick up goes towards supporting people who have experienced homelessness.

Emmaus is a charity that provides a home, meaningful work and a community to people who have been homeless and the Emporium is part of how they fund that work.

So this Saturday you can grab yourself something great for a pound and know that it is genuinely making a difference to someone's life at the same time.
