A cabaret night at the Kings Arms - Every ticket helps change a life

The Kings Arms in Salford is hosting a cabaret night this August and honestly, this one is worth clearing your diary for.
Ember & the Vixens is coming to the Bloom Street pub on Sunday 30th August after a sell-out run in Manchester. It is a burlesque and variety show put together by Selina Helliwell, and the lineup for the night includes live music, spoken word, circus acts and burlesque performances all in one evening.
What makes this show extra special is where the money goes. Every single penny of profit is being donated to Independent Choices - A Greater Manchester charity that runs a helpline and supports people affected by domestic abuse and violence across the region.
So it is a brilliant night out and a good thing to be part of. Tickets are on sale, click here to grab yours.
£1.4m secured to fix Salford's roads

If potholes have been getting on your nerves lately - and let's be honest, they have, I have some good news for you.
The Council has just landed an extra £1.4m in government funding to repair roads across the city. This is in addition to the £4.3m already set aside for road investment this year, which means nearly 300 more streets are now in line to get fixed.
What's also nice about this is that £20,000 from the fund has been ring-fenced for every single ward in Salford. That means local councillors can put forward the roads and problem spots that matter most to their communities, so it is not just the big main roads getting attention. Your street has a chance too.
Roads in the worst condition get priority, so the fixes go where they are needed most. And if you know of a pothole that needs reporting, now is the perfect time to get it flagged.
A New Restaurant Opens in Salford

Recently opened in Swinton, Fennel is one of the city's newest restaurants.
Fennel is an intimate neighbourhood restaurant and the philosophy behind their food is quite unique. Mediterranean flavours paired with the best of British produce, meat and poultry locally sourced within 50 miles, seafood caught along the coastline and on your plate within 24 hours of being landed.
The drinks menu also has clearly had the same level of care put into it too. Wines from small independent European vineyards you probably have not heard of, a solid beer selection and handcrafted cocktails if that is more your thing.
A few items worth trying:
Roast Chicken Boulangère
Frito Misto, Crispy Pasta
Black Angus Rump of Beef
Artichoke & Squash Risotto
If you live around the Swinton area or are curious to try something new, Fennel might be worth considering.
